A lot has been going on
Sorry I have been absent from the blogworld for so long. There was a lot happening. For one, Project Rudolph is starting to pick up a bit more in my community.
Another bit of stress was that our lovely unit got 3 DUI’s in one week. Our base made it one month without any and then it’s our guys that mess it up. Since it’s military life, everyone got lecture upon lecture about how stupid it is to drive drunk. Even after those, we had DUI’s. Yes, Germany has great beer, but call a taxi or your NCO, that’s what they are there for!!!
Then there were paperwork issues too. It got to the extent that leave and passes were getting put on hold. We stressed about this for a few days knowing that our trip in a couple of weeks would be in jeopardy. Thankfully, Bry’s platoon is good and had all their paperwork up to date and we can go on our lovely cruise! Whew!
The biggest and hardest thing was three friends moving from here within one week. It was like all of my connections vanished. That on top of Bry’s schedule being off the wall, has made it all even harder. Imagine having a baby as company all day, seeing your hubby for fleeting moments during the day between PT, training, and actual work…and then having no one locally to confide in.
Sure, I keep myself busy with all my volunteer work, but it’s not enough. We just need to get out of here, where I can start fresh. Hopefully, that will happen soon. We are still seeing what we can get from the Retention NCO (where Bry goes to re-enlist).
Meanwhile, the kiddo is growing so fast and learning new things, it seems, every day. Yesterday, he learned to sit in a chair by himself. He can get out and spin and sit back down too. Now he feeds himself more, which means a bigger mess, but that’s ok. John loves to be spooked and chases us around the house. It makes for good naps and good sleep for him at night too.
Yeah, we’ve had two nights within a week where he slept through the whole night! Yay!!!! Amazing since he’s getting a second molar (still has yet to get eye teeth).
Today John gets to wear his super cute dragon costume. Once I get tad more un-lazy about photos and such, I’ll get it up here. Hopefully, tomorrow the video and pics will be up for you all to see. Yikes, still have his b-day stuff to post too. See how terribly behind I am?
I feel I have prattled on enough. *pokes her dear friends in the US who have blogs here* Where the heck have you all been?
Computer issues
I’ve been absent from my blog for a good week or so due to my computer being a pain. It all started by installing the latest Windows Update. After it restarted…it just kept restarting. I tried Safe Mode, that didn’t work. That left me to shut it down until we could get it fixed. Thank goodness we know someone out here that could take a look at it for me. Sure we could have taken it to a local computer repair place, but this guy was free. I’d rather wait over a week and it be free than wait about the same amount of time and pay 100 Euros or more.
Meanwhile, our cruise really is happening. We booked our flight over there and back. Now we just need excursions. This one website is being a pain about booking them. I will contact my travel agent and see if she can get through to them.
In other news, Project Rudolph! A friend of mine sent me an email about it. A lady, not to far from where I lived started it. www.projectrudolph.homestead.com Go there, check it out. If you want to help, let me know! I’ve gotten our chapel and FRG to pitch in. My mother’s church is also helping out.
*hugs*
