Friday’s Feast for Fall

Appetizer
How are you today?

Surprisingly well despite how terrible I felt last night. Newborn and feeding just about every hour wears one out quite well. But a nice walk in the refreshing and crisp air of the fall does wonders for mommy and baby.

Soup
Name 3 television shows you watch on a regular basis.

Well, I don’t really any more. No time to. I used to watch Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs, and Desperate Housewives on a regular basis.

Salad
What’s the scariest weather situation you’ve experienced?

I’d say being in the dining hall (building with windows all around) at church camp, peering out the window and seeing a tornado touch down in the lake that wasn’t but 10 yards from the building we were in.

Main Course
If you could wake up tomorrow morning in another country, where would you want to be?

The USA, I miss home and I’m sure family and friends out there would love to see lil’ John Richard.

Dessert
What do you usually wear to sleep?

Before pregnancy Victoria’s Secret was my best friend. Then I used to wear whatever I could get myself into while pregnant. Now that I’m not, but I’m nursing, I wear a nursing night top with a nursing bra so I don’t milk every where and my goucho pants. So sexy, I know :P

Talk Like a Pirate Day

September 24, 2007 at 2:36 pm (Uncategorized)

That such day just so happend to be the day that my son was born, September 19th. It happend at 4:41am. Labor started at 8:30pm the previous evening, right after a Family Readiness Group meeting hehe. We got to the hospital around 10ish I think…times may be a bit off, I was in a blur. Reguardless, after the heart monitoring and my all time favorite (not!) cervix check (2 lousy cm at this point), I get admitted because my contractions are indeed real this time…or showing active labor. I get a shot to help me sleep…at this point it’s around 12am and I get taken back to the ward to get some z’s. I could mildly sleep between the contractions. Then after an hour and a half of tossing and turning I sit up and debate going to L&D. By now I have the dizzies and make the mad dash to the bathroom and get sick, thanks to the pain. I have a HIGH tollerance to pain so that says something…and I know, most women do get sick during labor but…oy. That was the kicker that made me decide it’s time to go. So I ring myself a midwife and walk with her to L&D huffing and puffing, cell phone and pillow clenched in my hands. Once I’m hooked up I call my hubby and announce that it’s time to get his rear over to the hospital. After this monitor check and another check of my cervix I’m at 4cm. I then get asked if I’d like an epidural. The thought had crossed my mind a few times in the night that I’m insane for wanting to go through with this for more children. I opted for the epidural…sorry at 2am I had no energy to focus on anything but the pain.

We then get moved to the BIG delivery room..yay! Let me tell you, getting the epi isn’t a walk in the park either. Nothing like feeling a thick needle jab into your back. I was even given a shot of local anestesia (sp?) to numb the epi site…hah mmm, still not fun. They had to pause between contractions to get it all in. It didn’t take long before I declaired myself comfortably numb. I felt really good. Then before I knew it I hit 7cm and then my water breaks. About 20 minutes later I feel the urge to push and buzz the midwife. She comes in and says I’m at 9cm at this point and tells me small pushes are ok. Not long after I’m at 10cm and in 12 pushes, John Richard arrived.

He had the cord around his neck, just like his father did. Before I could get the sentance of, “my husband wants to cut the cord.” the cord was already cut and he was wisked to the counter right by my bed for some oxygen. Then I heard his first little cry and I loved that sound. It was a great moment holding him in my arms, watching him move and hearing his coo’s. After a bit I was allowed to feed him and he ate for a little while.

Fast forward to now, I have a champ eater and quite the belcher. We’re working on adjusting to the whole lack of sleep thing at home, but we’re doing well. Our house is definately spilling over with love. :)

And here are some pics, enjoy! They aren’t in order, but c’mon…I’s sleepy!!!

A Friday’s Feast I found amusing.

September 14, 2007 at 5:20 am (Uncategorized)

Appetizer
When was the last time you visited a hospital?

Well, I got to spend Sunday through Tuesday in the hospital due to high blood pressure. Then I visited again yesterday because of a routine doc appointment ’bout my baby.

Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how ambitious are you?

Today I’m feelin’ 4. I have a lot to do and a short time to do it in and I just don’t want to do it.

Salad
Make a sentence using the letters of a body part. (Example: (mouth) My other ukelele tings healthily.)

Neat Indecisive Awesome Lass (sorry, just pried my butt out of bed, it’s 6am, gimme a break)

Main Course
If you were to start a club, what would the subject matter be, and what would you name it?

Being that I just finished the Harry Potter books, I’d do a Harry Potter fan club. I’m dying to talk about it but my hubby is just now reading the last book. We both re-read the series so don’t call us slackers :P

Dessert
What color is the carpet/flooring in your home?

Honey brown…parquet flooring…complete and utter crap. Why? Cuz it has loads of water damage and it’s not gonna get fixed.

Friday’s Feast Number?

September 7, 2007 at 9:02 am (Uncategorized)

Appetizer
Using only one word, how does grocery shopping make you feel?

indifferent

Soup
What is your favorite part about the season of Autumn?

Oh don’t get me started! I LOVE the fall! The leaves changing, the leaves falling into big piles, the smell, the crisp and cool air….mmm. I love the colors! And yes, on the first of this month, I got all my fall stuff out. Lovely orange leaves decorate my dining table, fake pumpkins and mushrooms decorate my windows. My September fairy (cross stitch) sits proudly where all in my stairwell can see her. OOOOH PUMPKIN BREAD! Ok, a lil’ too excited, but I made some yesterday. I can’t get enough of the smell. My poor pumpkin candle is dying…must find replacement…or bake more bread lol.

Salad
Have you ever had any bad experiences online?

Yeah some girl decided to harass the heck out of me on MySpace for no good reason (only met her twice in person…she’s a now ex-friend of a friend. Can ya say she loves to stir up drama where it is not needed?). Needless to say, she’s been blocked by me and warned by the team there.

Main Course
Name three things that make you happy daily.

1. Feeling my son move about
2. Snuggling up to my hubby
3. Gettin’ and givin’ lovin’s to my fur babies

Dessert
What one household cleansing or organizing item would you not want to be without?

Lysol wipes! They make cleaning the kitchen happen in an instant.

Photos that made me cry, but in a good way! :)

September 2, 2007 at 6:14 pm (Uncategorized)

My dear friends, or whoever else might be reading this, these photos are from week 36 and day 5 of my pregnancy. Eva is a dear friend of mine and she captured these images for me and my hubby. These will be printed out and set in a scrapbook for John. Yes, I know some of them are nudie but ya don’t see anything, just a pleasantly round bellied woman and her husband cherishing their last few moments alone.

I know it’s a lot of photos, but I love them all so much! May every pregnant woman find the beauty that there is, stretch marks and all! Yes, I do have those lovely “life lines” upon my tummy. Eva just worked her magic and got rid of ‘em.
